What Fontreel is
Fontreel ("we") is a web service, operated by Rahul Thakor, that transcribes the speech in videos you upload and burns captions into them in the style you choose. These terms apply when you use it.
Your account
- You need an account to upload videos. Keep your password safe; you're responsible for what happens under your account.
- You must be old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
Your content
- You keep all rights to the videos you upload and the captioned videos you download.
- You give us permission to store and process your videos only to provide the service: transcription, preview, export and delivery.
- Only upload content you have the right to use. Don't upload anything illegal, or content that infringes someone else's rights or shows people who haven't agreed to be recorded where that's required.
Plans, limits and payment
- Each plan has limits (transcription minutes, video length, exports, resolution), shown on the pricing page. The Free plan adds a small watermark.
- Paid plans renew automatically each month or year until you cancel. Payments, taxes and invoices are handled by our payment provider and merchant of record, Dodo Payments.
- If you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for. Refunds follow the refund policy.
- We may change prices with notice before your next renewal.
Fonts and third-party components
Captions use open-source fonts licensed under the SIL Open Font License. You may use exported videos freely; the font files themselves aren't provided for separate use.
Accuracy
Automatic transcription makes mistakes. Check your captions before you publish; you can edit every word in the editor.
Availability and changes
We work to keep Fontreel running but can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change or stop features, and will give reasonable notice of changes that take away something you've paid for.
Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or abuse the service.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided "as is", and our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited.
