What makes Hinglish captions hard.

Two scripts in one sentence
Hinglish switches language mid-sentence. Models tend to translate it into English or force everything into one script.

Two fonts in one line
A caption needs a Devanagari font and a Latin font side by side, without broken letters where they meet.

Timing English words
Hindi timing models don't know English words, so English words usually get no timing or the wrong timing.
How Fontreel handles it
- Sarvam saaras v4 in codemix mode: 8.5% word error rate on our Hinglish clips, with 98.7% of words in the expected script.
- English words are spelled in Devanagari only for the timing step, then shown in English letters: 100% of word starts landed within 100 ms, English words included.
- Each word gets the font for its script: e.g. Anton for English and Baloo 2 for Devanagari in the same caption.

About Hinglish captions.
Will English words appear in Devanagari?
No. Hinglish mode keeps English words in English letters and the rest in Devanagari. In our tests no English word came back in Devanagari.
Can I use different fonts for Hindi and English words?
Yes. Every style has a font for each script, and you can change either one.
What if I want only Devanagari or only English?
Choose Hindi or English when you upload instead of Hinglish.
